Geopark Vulkaneifel celebrates official delivery of UNESCO Global Geoparks certificate

Inside a beautiful maar crater and under marvellous weather conditions, Geopark Vulkaneifel celebrated the official delivery of the UNESCO Global Geoparks certificate on Monday, 12th September 2016. The certificate was handed over by representatives of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mr. Michael Reiffenstuel, Chair of National Committee of UGG in Germany) and the German National UNESCO Commission (Prof. Dr. Hartwig Lüdtke, Vice President). The celebration was attended by the Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate and approx. 200 guests from politics, administrations, schools, private business and general public.

Together with partners of the European and Global Geopark Network, the aim of Geopark Vulkaneifel is to make regional natural wonders and phenomena accessible and to inspire new enthusiasm for a sometimes explosive landscape.
