The Geopark Swabian Alb put major emphasis on the development of information material this year. In this context the webpage was relaunched and new brochures were produced. Considerable work was done by the Geopark office to strengthen the cooperation and the communication between Geopark communities.

Highlights of the year included:

  • The celebration of the “European Geoparks Week ”. Altogether the Geopark team and partners ran programme with more than 70 events.
  • In 2006 five new Geopark information centres were established. During the summer there were opening ceremonies in Bad Boll/Goeppingen, Dotternhausen Trochtelfingen, Laichingen and Muensingen.
  • A working group was founded for the development of educational material about the Geopark and its geological, archeological and natural heritage.
  • The core-area of the Geopark was enlarged by 13 communities.
