The Coordination Committee of the European Geoparks Network, decided to strengthen cooperation between the European Geopark Network and the IYPE Corporation. EGN is now an International IYPE Partner. 

European Geoparks are already involved in a variety of activities dedicated to the IYPE both at the national and international levels (European Geopark Week 2008, 3^rd International Conference on Geoparks in Terra Vita Geopark - Germany June 2008).

We strongly believe that under this new partnership much more will be achieved towards Earth heritage protection and promotion and sensitization of the society on the values of geo-conservation and sustainable local development. Geoparks are hotspots of the IYPE celebration for Earth heritage, geotourism and local development.
